Furusiyya FEI Nations CupTM is one of the absolute highlights of Falsterbo Horse show and this year wasn´t any different, it was thrilling all the way until the last rider had reached the finish line!
Sweden and the Netherlands shared the lead after the first round after Douglas Lindelöw,  Alexander Zetterman and Peder Fredricson all had 0 faults. Close behind was USA and Spain with 1 time fault each and Germany with 2 time faults. For the second round three of the fences was raised, putting even more pressure on the horses and riders. Germany had 5 further penalties, whilst all other teams got 8 faults or more.

This madeGermany the winner, just like last year! Sweden finished second with 8 faults whilst USA and Spain

shared the third place both with 9 faults. An Incredably tight race!
In the German team the audience could amongst others enjoy Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum riding Fibonacci 17, earlier ridden very successfully by Lisen Bratt Fredricson, then called Fendi.
– Fibunacci is treated like a rockstar here in Falsterbo, said Meredith. I am very happy to have him in my stable, he has an incredible jumping capacity and we have really got together so well in a short space of time. I think that we have a promising future!
Rolf-Göran Bengtsson came in on Unita Ask, which is still unexperienced on this level. In the first round she got tense, which led to two fences down (which Sweden could exclude from the result since the others were all clear with 0 penalties). In the second round though, she showed confidence, fighting spirit and agility leaving all the fences up finishing with 0 penalties.
Riding for the Swedish team was;  Douglas Lindelöw–Casello; Alexander Zetterman–Cafino; Rolf-Göran  Bengtsson–Unita Ask och Peder Fredricson–H&M Sibon

One of this year’s new features is our Charity Partner; Ung Cancer (Young Cancer)

”We are proud to present this collaboration. Young adults are a large part of Sweden’s equestrian community. It’s absolutely fantastic if we can collect money for Ung Cancer to help cancer victims,” says Jana Wannius, President of Falsterbo Horse Show.

During the show, Ung Cancer will have two ”bead stations” where you can either make your own bracelet or buy one to support the Charity. The bracelets, with their bold statement “FUCK CANCER”, have become a symbol for Ung Cancer’s activities.

”Thanks to the bracelets we can give scholarships to our members and work to improve their living situation”, says Julia Mjörnstedt, Secretary General for Ung Cancer.

”We are very grateful to Falsterbo Horse Show and to everyone who supports are cause. We look forward to the event and hope to meet as many people as possible”.

A show jumping obstacle will be shown and sold in favor of Ung Cancer. This is a result of a collaboration between the Equestrian club Compass Sportryttarklubb in Saltsjöbaden, Gullmyra Hinder and Ung Cancer. It costs 22 000 SEK of which 10 000 SEK will go directly to Ung Cancer.

Falsterbo Horse Show has also bought an obstacle that will be used during the week.

Swedish Chef d’équipe has confirmed ten riders for Falsterbo Horse Show’s CSIO 10-13 July.

“Every show before the World Equestrian Games is important but Falsterbo is naturally a step on the way” says Sylve.

Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, Henrik von Eckermann, Peder Fredricsson, Niklas Jonsson, Douglas Lindelöw and Alexander Zetterman are all potential team riders for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ on Friday 11 July.

Three other riders to participate in the CSIO are Angelica Augustsson, Erika Lickhammer and Johan Lundh. The tenth rider was confirmed this weekend when Niklas Arvidsson won the Swedish Showjumping Championship.
Malin Baryard Johnsson and Jens Fredricsson are candidates for the World Equestrian Games but will not be competing in the top competitions. It is a bit early for their horses Tornesch and Lunatic who are both back in action after a break but not yet ready for the biggest jumps.
The last two Swedish riders will be confirmed after qualifications in Falstebro 5-6 July where twelve riders will have a chance to join the CSIO.
