Falsterbo Horse Show continues to strengthen its position as one of Europe’s leading destinations for international dressage as the FEI Dressage Nations Cup™ 5* returns in 2026. With world number one Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour and crowd favourite Patrik Kittel already confirmed, Falsterbo is set to host dressage at the very highest level this summer.

Alongside the World Championships in Aachen, Falsterbo Horse Show will this year be the only event in the world to host 5* Nations Cup competitions in both jumping and dressage during the same meeting. Thanks to partner Novare’s increased investment in dressage, the FEI Dressage Nations Cup™ regains its prestigious 5* status in Falsterbo and will this year offer €100,000 in prize money.

Several of the world’s leading combinations are expected to use Falsterbo as an important preparation ahead of the World Championships in Aachen later this summer. Both Sweden and Denmark have announced that they intend to compete with their championship teams in Falsterbo. Belgium has also confirmed its participation, while two additional nations will qualify through the FEI world rankings, currently expected to be Germany and the United States.

International interest in dressage at Falsterbo has grown significantly this year. With a 5* Nations Cup, the World Championships just around the corner and Falsterbo’s unique atmosphere and incredible crowds, the event has become a very attractive destination for top riders. Interest in competing in Falsterbo has been exceptionally high so far, says Josephine Sjölin, Sport Manager at Falsterbo Horse Show.

World-Class Line-Up Taking Shape

World number one Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour has already confirmed her participation and is looking forward to presenting a brand-new freestyle program in Falsterbo this summer:

I’m beyond excited to be back at Falsterbo Horse Show and very excited to present our new freestyle for the very first time. I love competing in Sweden, and I believe it will be the perfect preparation for the World Equestrian Games later this summer, says Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour.

It has also previously been confirmed that Swedish crowd favourite Patrik Kittel will return to Falsterbo together with Touchdown, winner of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final and finalist at the Olympic Games.

The FEI Dressage Nations Cup includes Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle and will take place during the final weekend, July 11-12. Five judges from this summer’s World Championships in Aachen will also judge in Falsterbo, further underlining the exceptionally high sporting standard of this year’s competition.

In addition to world-class sport, Falsterbo Horse Show, held July 4-12, offers a unique summer experience with shopping, restaurants, family activities and some of Sweden’s most beautiful beaches just minutes from the showgrounds.

Denmark-based Emma Ahlberg became the first this year to qualify her horse Ambjergs Delgadino to the Fager bits 7 y/o Championship 2023. She qualified during the competitions at Tørring Rideklub on April 6th and 7th with a score of 68,750% and 71,667%.
Emma and Ambjergs Delgadino have previously competed in Falsterbo in the Folksam Open for 5 y/o where the couple finished in eighth place.

Emma Ahlberg comments on this year’s expectations:

“I am looking forward to the summer as Falsterbo Horse Show is one of the highlights. Both to ride the horses and also to meet and spend a few lovely days with friends, colleagues and family. Dino also competed in Falsterbo as a 5 y/o. That was a great experience for him and us together as a team. I hope to show a well prepared horse that is ready for the task”.

Fager bits 7 y/o Championship takes place on Thursday 13th July (semifinal) and Saturday 15th July (final) 2023.

In a three year dressage plan, Falsterbo Horse Show launches a great drive to establish the competition as an international major competition of the same calibre as the show jumping. Axel Johnson Group is a sponsor for the Nations Cup in the second year running.

“Interest for dressage continues to grow in Sweden as well as abroad and I want to contribute to creating a world class event for dressage enthusiasts”, says Antonia Ax:son Johnson, chairman of the board of Axel Johnson.

Falsterbo Horse Show has for decades been an established major show jumping competition and has no problems attracting superstars from all over the world. It is now making a massive investment in dressage over the three coming years in order to establish itself as a world class outdoor event that will attract the international top names to Falsterbo.

“We have run dressage and show jumping in parallel over many years and I think it is of great advantage to the sport. There is great interest in both events and we have a big audience that has travelled far to come here and we can offer something for everyone”, says Jan-Olof Wannius, show director of Falsterbo Horse Show.

He continues:

“We started a dressage drive last year and we now have a three year plan in which we are investing a total of SEK 4 million in the dressage arena. There will be new meeting premises, a new grandstand, better surfaces and improvements for the riders. The aim is for the dressage to have an as prominent place as the show jumping in Falsterbo and we are delighted that Axel Johnson Group are backing us in these efforts.

Swedish dressage has had an explosive development in the last few years with a steady regrowth of horses and riders in the Grand Prix, which are also maintaining international standard.
