Best ever dressage event
The World Dressage Masters will be the best event in Falsterbo’s history and one of the best in the world this year. Today we can announce that three-times Olympic Dressage Champion Anky van Grunsven will be bringing her golden touch to the competition.
“We are absolutely delighted,” says Show Director Jan-Olof Wannius.
The Netherlands has led the way in dressage for the past decade, forcing former champions Germany to take a back seat. Megastar Anky van Grunsven and her husband and trainer Sjef Janssen, who also manages the Dutch national team, have led the Netherlands undisputed to the number one spot in dressage. Anky’s Olympic gold-winning horse Salinero was out due to injury for almost a year but is now making a comeback. Salinero’s first major competition since his injury will be in Falsterbo.
Falsterbo Horse Show is the third event on this year’s World Dressage Masters calendar. World Dressage Masters is also the world’s wealthiest dressage series. The competition’s chief sponsor is the Axel Johnson Group, headed by principal owner Antonia Ax:son Johnson. Falsterbo Horse Show will be a real measure of value for Anky van Grunsven.
Competing against Anky will be some of the very best Swedish dressage riders, including Patrik Kittel on Watermill Scandic and Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfvén on Favourit. Falsterbo is also one of the events that Swedish team manager Bo Jenå will be using to select his team for the European Championships. The European Dressage Championships are the most important event of the year for Swedish dressage, as the competition offers a final chance for those wanting to qualify for the Olympic Games. This makes Falsterbo a vital event for prospective Olympic riders.
