Rolf-Göran Bengtsson in Falsterbo
The Swedish international star Rolf-Göran Bengtsson has chosen to bring Casall La Silla with him to Falsterbo Horse Show and the fifth round of show jumping’s super league. The pair have a red-hot Grand Prix victory with them in their luggage.
Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, silver medallist at the 2008 Olympics, demonstrated as recently as last Sunday why he is one of the world’s best show jumpers. On Casall La Silla, he was the comfortable winner of a major Grand Prix in Rotterdam in connection with the fourth round of the FEI Meydan Nations Cup super league.
Naturally, the Falsterbo audience is hoping to see something similar. Particularly during Friday’s national show jumping, when Sweden’s future in the super league could be decided.
“Riding for the home crowd is always something special, particularly if things go well,” says Rolf-Göran Bengtsson.
Falsterbo, in Skåne, is home ground in two senses. Rolf-Göran Bengtsson comes from Skåne, and he has competed in Falsterbo so many times that he has lost count.
“I’m not sure how many times it is, but since the 80’s I’ve ridden there virtually every year," he says.
Rolf-Göran Bengtsson is currently ranked seventh in the world. His latest victory has given him a good chance to climb up the list.
On Casall La Silla, Rolf-Göran Bengtsson also won the world cup qualifier in March at Den Bosch in the Netherlands, and became the final winner in November at Stockholm’s Globen arena.
Casall La Silla will be joined at Falsterbo by the eight-year-old mare Conga La Silla.
On Midsummer’s Eve, Rolf-Göran Bengtsson is riding in the valuable Global Champions Tour in Monaco. Immediately after Falsterbo, it’s off to Aachen in Germany for the sixth round of the FEI Meydan Nations Cup.
