Ireland won the Meydan FEI Nations Cup in Falsterbo
The stands were crowded with spectators when Meydan FEI Nations Cup started today. It was a thrilling competition and uncertain into the end. It was a tough course that really demanded total concentration from the riders. Darragh Kerins on Night Train, from the winning team Ireland, was one, of only two riders that had a double clear round.
Chef d’equipe Robert Splain was of course very pleased with his team’s results today; this was the first time Ireland won one of the rounds of Meydan FEI Nations Cup and they are now placed sixth with Hickstead next and only two rounds left of the Meydan FEI Nations Cup.
Swedens team had a really good day in the jumping arena. Both Helena Lundbäck , Madick and Svante Johansson, Saint Amour had 4+0 faults in their rounds. The rising star Alexander Zetterman is only 19 years old but that did not show in his results, he had only 1 fault in the first round and one could not mistake his joy as he cleared the last fence. He ended up with a total of 6 faults. Rolf-Göran Bengtsson rode his relatively inexperienced horse Kiera La Silla, they had one down in both rounds but the future looks promising for this mare.
This means that Sweden advanced on the Meydan FEI Nations Cup standings and is now in seventh place. It is now 100% focus on the Meydan FEI Nations Cup with only two competitions left.
